Applicants are preferred who are able to commit to work the entire period from

July 6th to August 23, 2008.  Applicants are expected to report to camp on Saturday June 28th for a one week training program and orientation.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS
 
HEAD COOK:
The Head Cook is responsible to prepare and facilitate all meals from Sunday supper to Saturday lunch.  The menu for 2008 will work on a 2 week rotation and all supplies will be preordered.  The Head Cook will have a full time assistant and part time kitchen staff.  Ideally we are interested in a cook for the entire summer but will consider applicants for periods of 2 weeks or more.  For further information contact Annette and Andy Cabral at (905)792-2019.
   
ASSISTANT COOK:
The assistant cook is expected to commit to the entire summer.  Duties include food preparation and monitoring Dining Room and Kitchen Staff.  It is expected that the assistant will be familiar with the location of kitchen accessories and maintain their organization.  The assistant will also recieve and direct food orders and coordinate staff to unload and store items.  The assitant cook will be the 'right hand' of the head cook and recieve orders directly from him/her.
 
KITCHEN STAFF:
Kitchen staff follow instructions given by the Head and Assistant Cooks.  Duties may include some food preparation such as making side dishes, salads, desserts, or juice.  Kitchen staff are also required to: clean and put away items used for the preparation of food such as pots, utensils, baking pans etc., assist with incoming food orders, and clean the kitchen sinks, counters and floors. 
 
DINING ROOM:
Dining Room staff follow instructions given by the Head and Assistant Cooks.  Duties include: setting tables, serving food, arranging buffets, and maintaining the tea, coffee and water stations.  After meals dishes are washed and put away, tables are wiped and the floors are swept.  Weekly duties include washing the floor, windows and window ledges in the Dining Hall.  Dining Room staff are also required to assist with the set up and tear down for chapel (as we have chapel in the D Hall).      
 
 
COUNSELOR

We are looking for applicants with a desire to lead campers between 7 - 14 yrs old.  

Junior Counselors must be a minimum of 16 years old to be accepted.

Senior Counselors must be a minimum of 18 years old and have prior experience.

 

Specific Duties: Counselors are responsible for 10-12 campers from Sunday afternoon to Saturday morning.  Duties include monitoring campers in the cabin and dining hall, instructing skills, participating in games and camp fires, and interacting with the campers whenever possible.  Counselors are required to teach a mixed group of campers for 1-3 hours each day.  Courses are assigned based on the applicant's experience.   

 

Training: Counselors will be trained to instruct various camp skills such as basketball, volleyball, trampoline, water-skiing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and crafts based on the applicant's experience and the director's discretion.  Orientation week will include sessions on first aid, leadership, discipline, mentoring and teamwork.  Staff will learn throughout the summer by hands on experience, further training sessions and interactions with the directors. 

* Please note that applicants who desire pre-camp official training through outside agencies may be eligible for financial reimbursement. Contact the camp director for details.

Experience:  It is recommended that applicants complete the Leader in Training program through Pleasant Bay Camp or other similar training. Any additional skills that the applicant brings in these areas are considered an asset and should be included on the application.
